Java seems to be liked for all of the wrong reasons; (Perhaps college students who don't understand how to use OO properly are the main source?) While it's nice that it's open source, DotNet feels more snappy than Java for me. I know Microsoft has terrible practices, but damn it, C# is one of my favorite interpreted languages and dotnet if you can get it working, too (though the way they didn't have backwards compatibility was ***** :)
