I think the point is that when Obama made a reference to him and currency, he was accused of playing the race card. However, now we can see that Obama's statement was likely merely a reference to this ad, and John McCain knows it. Therefore, John McCain's campaign falsely accused Barack Obama of playing the race card.

Given all the reports we've heard about the Bush administration suppressing information on climate change, stem cell research, and, recently, the number of HIV cases, as well as falsifying evidence for going to war in Iraq and directly using the media to spread disinformation about perceived to be political enemies (i.e. progressives) it would be consistent with BushCo paranoia and policy to "filter" information that is not consistent with their worldview. For instance, if direct evidence of life were found, how would this square with their christian fundy right-wing base?
