NASA is not a private organization. They need funding from the government. They release stuff like this to raise public awareness. To justify their existence to the public. If they didn't, since a properly functioning government represents the will of its people, important funding might be canceled.

This is the first video or time I've seen any solar eclipse. Even though it was just a video from someone in a plane (how incredible it would have been to be there) a solar eclipse is just such a rare and powerful thing to see to me.
